Hi there,
Here's an introduction to me, and what makes me tick.
I was born in Cornwall, but as a child lived all over the country. My earliest recollections of the Christian Faith were in Uley C of E Primary School, where we had a weekly visit from the local Vicar. At the age of 10 I was enthralled by the Bible stories he told.
Later our family moved to Surrey and it was here that my enquiring mind wrestled with the issues of life. I had no trouble believing in God and listened intently as Rev.Keith Hills a local Baptist Minister took assemblies at our Grammar School. It was great to hear him speak and he helped to nurture my interest in Jesus.
Three films really rocked me during these teenage years, "The Thief in the Night" with the wonderful soundtrack by Larry Norman, and "Jesus of Nazareth" by Franco Zefferelli. I was captivated as Robert Powell played the part of Christ and could feel every fibre of my being cry out against the injustice as Pilate passed judgement.
One Saturday afternoon I was asked if I'd like to go to "a film". At the venue I realised I'd been tricked, it was a Christian film with Cliff Richard in it! Even during this I could hear the Spirit gently whispering that all I was hearing was true. I joined the youth group MYF at Mitchley Hill Chapel, and with a matter of weeks came to the realisation that there was "something missing" in my life. I confessed my sins and asked Jesus to come into my life. Each week I attended a Gospel Hall and the folk there took me to Wisley where I was baptised in the lake next to A3!
A few years later I married Roz, and we had two boys Joseph and Samuel. After a wonderful (but challenging) journey of faith we moved to Chudleigh in 1997. We see ourselves as Christians in Chudleigh, with friends in the Parish Church and Chudleigh Baptist. We have been running "House Martin" for 10 years, were I work with the building trade and sell coving via the internet. Being based right in the centre of town I find it easy to connect with a vast cross section of people. I love to share my faith when opportunities arise. It is my conviction that we aren't called to "bring people to church" but rather share the Good News with people where they are. Bringing souls to Christ isn't the "Pastor's job", but our responsibility. The scriptures still enthral me, and we have been greatly blessed as we partner with mission friends around the world.
Recently we became grandparents for the first time when Elijah was born to Joe & Nancy. Sam serves the Lord with So Young in Hong Kong and throughout Asia. I also share my "walk" at www.snowgood.wordpress.com where you'll see what's on my heart at any particular time.
