Hello and welcome! I am the minister at Chudleigh Baptist Church and the newest addition to the leadership team. My husband, three boys and I moved to Chudleigh in July 2016 and we are enjoying getting to know the church and community here.

I recently graduated from Bristol Baptist College but have spent the best part of 20 years loving, leading and supporting churches where God has called us to worship and serve. In my younger days I spent my gap year working as a volunteer with the Baptist Missionary Society in Zimbabwe - an experience which changed me forever.

My family keep me busy (and sane!) but when I have time to spare, I enjoy getting out in the beautiful Devon countryside and spending time with friends.  I am looking forward to the adventure that I am embarking on with Chudleigh Baptist Church - discovering where God will lead us and how he will shape us as we journey there together. If you like adventures, why not join us on this journey?

 Matt Funnell, Treasurer

My name is Matthew Funnell and I am the treasurer of Chudleigh Baptist Church. I am married to Emma and we have two young boys, Arthur and Henry.  We have been a part of CBC since april 2012 when we moved to Chudleigh.

I was blessed by growing up in a Christian home and see family as an important part of my life.  We moved to Chudleigh to be nearer to Emma’s parents (great baby sitting service and Sunday lunches!!) and to give our children a great place to grow up in.  My brother and his family have also moved to Devon which has been great to be nearer to them too!

I grew up in Preston and went to university in Liverpool where I met my wife.  We spent a happy 13yrs there being an active part of our local Church.  We both studied medicine and are now both GPs.   I am a GP partner in Plympton where I work part time to try and get a good work/life balance.

I enjoy snowboarding (when I get the chance) , music and nature.  My grandparents were farmers and I have dreams of one day having a small holding but for now I am content with 2cats, a tank full of fish and 4 tortoises!

My wife and I have really enjoyed CBC since we have been here.  It is great now that I can be part of the leadership team, serving God and reaching out to our local community.

Hazel Hawley

Hi there, I'm Hazel. I have two grown up children and I work as a Teaching
Assistant/HLTA at a Primary school in Dawlish- a job I love! I feel very
privileged to be part of the Chudleigh Baptist church family and serve on
the leadership team. I grew up in a Christian family attending the Elim
church in Ipswich and found faith at a young age. I had some prodigal years
but returned once more 13 years ago through a friend's baptismal witness. I
am a house group leader, a Children's church leader, prayer team member,
Pastoral leader and tea/coffee maker! I am excited about what the future
holds for our church, and the verse that has inspired me this last year in
particular is Ephesians 3:20-21 'Now glory be to God!  Who by his mighty
power at work in us is able to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think!'

Paul Reynolds, Secretary

Born and brought up in Torquay by loving Christian parents I surrendered my life to  Christ when I was 10 years old. I’m married to the most patient woman in the world, Jennifer.   We have 2 grown up children, Ben & Leah, and 5 grandchildren: Finlay & Esther, Chloe & Reuben and Levi.

We have been part of the Chudleigh fellowship for a good number of years and for a fair few of those I have been involved in the leadership. I was part of the small group that led the congregation in stepping out in faith from being 12 or so attendees on a Sunday morning, in an out of the way chapel, to where we are now. Through that journey I have experienced God’s faithfulness again and again, both in family life and in church life. I’ve come to realise, after too many years, that God is never going to let me or His Church down, no matter what.

I have also learnt that serving God is no hardship, it’s a privilege. Yes, it may be tiring at times or difficult; the end product may not be readily apparent; there may even be a cost involved; but to serve my brothers and sisters and ultimately the King of kings is worth all of that.

I long to see people using their gifts to their full potential, whatever they may be. (Those making tea and coffee is every bit as important as my playing a keyboard.) Because, as we use our gifts, it is not only God’s people who are blessed but also the community in which we live.

Jonathan Pimerton

It’s great to be part of the leadership team here at Chudleigh Baptist church, serving the community and loving Jesus.

I currently work as an accountant for Regional & City Airports, based at Exeter Airport. My wife Amy and I moved to Chudleigh in Spring 2016, shortly before the arrival of our daughter Megan. We have enjoyed becoming part of Chudleigh, and felt very welcomed from the start. Prior to moving here, we lived in Guildford for three years and were part of St Saviour’s Church there.

I have always enjoyed getting ‘stuck in’ at church, I have spent time helping with youth work in Guildford, and more recently I have gotten involved in the worship band at Chudleigh. I look forward to what God has in store for us both individually and as a church.

In my spare time I enjoy playing snooker, squash, practising my guitar and getting out to the beach – weather permitting!
