5 March 2011
Greetings this time from Ensenada, Mexico!
We’re sure you’ll be pleased to hear we successfully completed the bilingual School of Design (SOD) in Jeju, South Korea!
We arrived in Mexico just over 2 weeks ago now to speak and help out on the Introduction to Performing Arts & Media School (IPM). Sam started teaching the following day we arrived on the Basics of Communication, Newsletters and Colour Theory. For a lot of the students this was the first time they had used the computer to design or create. During this last weeks teaching on the IPM we have been able to share some of the things we learned on the SOD in Jeju as well as other experience we have within media.
The SOD was a 3 month school and included topics such as:
- Transforming Communication
- Basic Elements of Design
- Identity of a Biblical Designer
- Drawing for Design
- Colour Theory/Arrangement
- Photoshop - editing program for photos
- Illustrator - drawing/illustration program
- Typography
- InDesign - page layout and publishing software program
- AfterEffects (motion graphics program)
The SOD was a relatively small school made up of only 6 students, 3 of which were from our ministry including myself, Vanessa from Mexico and Stephanie from the USA. So Young was translating for us during the school and put the lingual in bilingual so we could understand the lectures and schedule. The other 3 students were Korean while 2 could get by in English so we could all just about get along, It was the first time the school had been run in bilingual and so we were the guinea pigs!
We believe and felt that God was definitely
with us to help us get through some of the late nights and difficult assignments. At the beginning
it was difficult for us both as SoYoung would spend all lecture translating and then we’d b
e apart while I did the assignments only to get in very late on completion. It was funny as we w
ere together a lot of the time during the day but we had missed out on any quality time together. Fortunately we were able to get away now and then and be together away from the campus.
One time the school leader let us take a Friday off so we could leave early to go and visit family in Seoul. We spent the weekend with SoYoung’s parents and just by coincidence her brothers family was staying there also. We were able to have a really good time with them all and see our niece and nephew again. At the same time we were able to get in a much needed visit to the dentist where we found out that we both had to have a bit of work done.
We plan to be here in Mexico for another month or more to join the team on their outreach and to continue to train and equip them. SoYoung will continue to polish the drama's and dances the students have made and I along with some other team members will help out with the media area.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers:
- Pray for His wisdom and guidance as we continue to teach on the IPM here in Mexico
- Clarity in the outreach locations for the IPM
- Pray for a covering over our health, particularly due to recent dental trouble!
- Financial blessing particularly as we spend time away from our home and reach out to this region
Thank you for all your love and support
Christ's richest blessings

November 2010 - Update
It's nearly the end of the year! Thank you once again for all your prayers and support we have very much felt them over these past few months.
Many of you will know that our prayer request way back in May was answered and Sam has been able to visit a Chiropractor here in Hong Kong. The Chiropractor said to Sam that he could use and abuse his services as much as he needed as it would be his way of blessing those that are reaching out to the nations! We were blessed to know that he is a Christian and he wanted to support us in this way... a fantastic answer to prayer and awesome blessing to us both!
Lately we have been gearing up to get going on our next project. 4 of us on the Media team of Master's Beauty ministry have been preparing to join a School of Design in South Korea for 3 months. We have felt that this will be of great use to our ministry as we look more at how media and technology can be used on the mission field. We will be looking at things like; typography, learning various types of software, video making plus a lot more.
At a similar time in January the rest of our staff will be in Mexico pioneering our Introduction to Performing Arts School there and training up people of many different nationailites to embrace the arts for our Creator..... and guess what?! Create with Him to display His beauty.
Blessings to you all.

Prayer Update from Hong Kong, 2 May 2010

Dear Friends,
Thank you all for your prayers. They are much appreciated and we believe have helped us to be where we are now on our journey as a mission here in Hong Kong.
Lately we have noticed however that there has been a strong attack on our health, not just for us as a couple but the base staff as a whole. Just yesterday we learned that one of our staff has a broken foot and has been in hospital over night waiting for surgery.
Our main prayer request at this time is for Sam. Sam has had a history of back problems for quite sometime and each year its as if we see a breakthrough and then it reverts back to how it was. Just the other week we noticed that one of Sam's collar bones was protruding out and his shoulders were off set. He had trouble sleeping as he was in a lot of discomfort. We decided to visit the Chiropractors here in Hong Kong. We were told that it didn’t look good. 4 x-rays later we were told that Sam has a condition called Scoliosis; which is when a persons spine is curved from side to side.
We were told that it might take up to a year and a half to put right but we may see some healing within 3 months if we continue to go to the Chiropractor regularly.
Please pray for:
- Financial provision during this time as Sam is to visit the Chiropractor 3 times a week for now and we will be also trying to buy an Orthopedic type bed suitable for his condition.
- Peace for Sam and So Young during this time
- Direction for our ministry as we meet to discuss where God is calling us to as we look to move to a new location to work with the society and connect with local churches.
Many Thanks and Richest Blessings
Sam and So Young
